wanted to explain why I haven't been posting lately. I'm working on a new blog which I hope to launch sometime very soon, just trying to get a few wrinkles ironed out. I've been saving sneak peeks from recent sessions to showcase on the new blog and I can't wait to share it all with you!

morgan is our beautiful niece. she was just 4 yrs old when I first met brian and I've been lucky enough to see her grow into this beauty. i see so much of her in jonah, certain mannerisms they both share. sometimes jonah will flash this smile at me and its totally morgan. they both have such gentle warm hearts. i can only hope that ana grows up to be just like morgan. jennifer, you've done an amazing job and you should be very proud of her.
suzanne is morgan's bff. she is super sweet and has a smile that would light up a room.
its so easy to see how close they are and how much fun they have together...thanks for a great time girls xx

it's time to say goodbye!!! goodbye winter...hello spring!!! Jonah made this snowman on Sunday after that little blast of snow we got but secretly I'm hoping it's the last time he'll get to make one. I'm dreaming of playing in the sand at my beach sessions and rockin' my weddings!
and don't you just love her new smile....

Last fall I proudly became a member of Nilmdts, an organization that gently provides a helping hand and a healing heart. For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.
{this is taken from their website to give you an idea of what it's all about }
Pregnancy: The state of being with child. [British Medical Dictionary]The beginning of a parent's hopes and dreams. The anticipation of the pitter patter of tiny little feet. A family being born unto each other. No parent ever expects their dream to shatter. But sadly, sometimes this dream can turn into a nightmare.
Each year nearly 3.3 million babies are stillborn, and more than 4 million others die within 28 days of coming into the world. [World Health Organization] With advanced medical technology, it is a parents expectation that those born unto us will out live us. When a baby dies, it is outside the natural order of life and families are left devastated and forever changed.
Every living being instinctually knows how to grieve. It is learning how to heal, that some need help with. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation.
Remembrance Photography is a very important step in this healing process. Photographs are one of the most precious and tangible mementos that a parent can have, showing the love and bond that was given and shared with their baby. These portraits will last for generations, and will honor and remember a tiny life that is forever loved and cherished.
So there you have it. My latest adventure. Yes, I am nervous. Brian and I talked and talked and talked some more about it and he reminded me that yes, the first session will be very hard and quite possibly every session after that just as hard, but to think of it as a gift that I am giving someone and that I will walk away a better person because of it. If I can help take away just an ounce of a grieving parents pain, I will do it in a heartbeat. And then I will come home and hold my children for a long time.

we spent alot of time at Lost Creek Golf Course enjoying the amazing weather we had over the weekend. we took full advantage of having a golf course right in our subdivision...great spot for sledding! the kids had a blast!
the kids were pretending to be backyardigans and went exploring thru the woods. they found this little spot where they stopped to play and it was the most yummy light coming thru the trees. loved this little spot!
ana discovered this abandoned golf cart buried in the snow and did not want to leave 'her car'
snack time!
she definately did NOT get her lashes from her mother...i love this snot-covered face so much
heading home...so pooped!

for the low low price of....
does it really matter? Look at this house!! It has so much character! I did a few sessions in this home and it has such a *homey* feel to it! The location is ideal for those wanting to be close to the city but not quite in the city. Only two minutes to the rotary and close to beautiful walking trails. I'm really surprised that it's actually still on the market...it's a keeper for sure! Check out the MLS listing for more deets..

i don't think i would have ever believed anyone who told me that my two children would be so different from each other. however, my pregnancies with each of them should have been an indication. ana is my wild child. this child is newly 2 but thinks she is alot older. as you can tell, she won't let me touch her hair. so it looks like straw pretty much 7 days a week. she insists on putting my makeup of her lovely already perfect skin every time she finds me in the bathroom. no matter how cold it is, she will fight us til the end of what she is wearing and most days will go outside with a princess play dress on, complete with tiara and sparkly silver shoes. all day today she wore this awesome tutu from Lilybug's Tutus (more to come on that later) even though it was a bit too small for her, as its an infant sized tutu.
as much as i want her to be strong and independant when she grows up, right now I'm just trying to keep her my baby girl. wishing i could freeze time....

but unable to post images here! Not sure what is going on but I wanted to let those of you who are waiting for your sneak peeks know that for some unknown reason I am unable to upload files onto my blog. As soon as I figure out what's going on, I will have loads of images to showcase!
So sorry about the delay but I am trying to get it resolved!

I can't take credit for this idea. It was started by fellow photog friends in the US and I think it's too cool not to do the same here.
You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a
tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more
than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal
circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who
would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a
year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. It's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.
Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the
winner also receives a complimentary session as well. What better reason to show some love? :)
The rules:
* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a summer-vacation-home in Florida or can't afford the repairs on their new Mercedes does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
* The nominee must reside in the HRM. Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must e-mail me the full story : rdphoto@ns.sympatico.ca
The winner will be announced on December 23, to allow enough notice to be a Christmas gift -- get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!
We all have things to be thankful for. I'm thankful for an amazing husband, who supports me whole-heartedly with all of my crazy endeavours. I'm thankful for my beautiful children and their health and happiness. For all of my family and friends. For a job that allows me to meet new people who let me into their lives and give them memories in return.
Christmas is usually a time to reflect on happy times. Yet for some people its more of a painful reminder than a celebration. Open your heart to someone this holiday season -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.
Can't wait to read your entries!
Merry Christmas!
Rhonda
